Sirimu Celestin

SIRIMU Celestin is a PhD student registered at the department of Food Technology, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences, College of Agriculture, Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), under PASET-RSIF Scholarship programme. Sirimu holds a master’s degree in food science and technology from Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (Agricultural University), Rahuri (India). He had also obtained a bachelor’s degree in the same discipline from the former Kigali Institute of science and technology (Rwanda). Sirimu is an assistant lecturer at the University of Rwanda (UR-CAVM) where he co-teaches different modules including Dairy science and technology, Food Chemistry and analysis, and Food processing and preservation to name a few. Sirimu aspires to be a great researcher in the discipline of Food biotechnology and Life sciences. His PhD research focuses on harnessing production and utilization of novel starter cultures from traditionally made food/beverage products. The to-be explored starter organisms with emphasis on the beneficial organisms used in food and beverage industries. Sirimu believes that findings from his research will bring about positive changes to the local industry and the society of the end users so as to make the full positive impact on the socio- economic development of our society.
