Irene Mremi

Irene Mremi is a SACIDS PhD Student registered at Sokoine University of Agriculture under the ACE programme, and funded by the Government of Tanzania through the world Bank Project. Irene is doing her research in Community Level One Health Security. She joined SACIDS while working for the National Institute for Medical Research, Tanzania as a technical expert in Information Communication and Technology (ICT). Her work at NIMR involved the designing the information systems for the Ministry of Health and its programmes, development of programmes and databases for research studies, management and manipulation of research data. She has also participated in a number of studies on Strengthening of the Health Information System in Tanzania. Irene Mremi holds a Master degree in Health Informatics and a BSc. In Computer Science both from the University of Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania. Her research interest is in the area of health information systems including disease surveillance and advancement of innovative Technologies. With the advancement of application in ICT and informatics in the health research and service industry, Mremi is designing, Analysing and interpreting the epidemiological surveillance data for better disease control and prevention.
